Crafter Acoustic
Guitars
|
The Crafter guitar company
was founded by HyunKwon Park in April 1972. In the beginning the company
manufactured classical guitars for the Korean local market and suddenly got a
good reputation, for their high quality sound.
Before long the company moved to bigger factory so that they could build enough
guitars to keep up with the demand. In 1978 they moved again, from Seoul to
Yangju-gun.
At that time Crafter acoustic
guitars were know as ‘Sungeum’ which means ‘accomplishing the sound’,
and to this day it is still a well know brand in Korea.
HyunKwon’s goal was to
supply guitarists throughout the world with guitars, so he began to manufacture
acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars that would appeal to worldwide market.
In 1986 InJae Park his oldest son joined the company.
InJae felt that ‘Sungeum’ was not the best name for an
international market so he came up with a new brand that would be both easily
remember and convey a positive image. He renamed his guitars to Crafter.
Crafter acoustic guitars are being sold in 30 different
countries. In 2001 the UK became Crafter’s largest market.
The main objective of Crafter is to produce quality guitars. Crafter is known for
make some of the finest guitars. No guitar leaves the factory that does not meet
Craftor’s high quality standards.
Crafter is always open
to hearing new ideas from guitarist, so that they can meet their needs.
Crafter
produced a new travel guitar model TRV-23 that has a solid Sitka spruce top and
a full sound in spite of its smaller body. It also has a cutaway design that was
requested by many guitarists. The Crafter TRV-23 was unveiled at the 2002 NAMM
show.
