Spirit in the Sky
|
Throughout my work, I developed my own particular style with vibrant and living
colours. I like to show everyday items in a special way, like to tell stories to get the viewers attention for little things.
My paintings are supposed to make you stop and look, smile about some humour in them and brighten up your day.
‘Bright and glowing colours make your life happy and rich, fill it with sunlight’
I use watercolour combined with pastels to achieve special effects of vibrancy in my paintings. My experience with these materials leaded me to new ventures with oil paint, which I use in a very unique and expressive way.
You can see the same warm and vibrant colours in my acrylic paintings and in any other media I use, transforming them into something very personal – work, where you can feel the energy flowing.
Feelings and thoughts, exploring landscapes and souls, telling stories, this is my work, this is who I am.
Gauguin in 1888 to one of his students, Paul Serusier: ‘How do you see that tree? It’s green? Well, then, make it green, the best green on your palette. Ho do you see those trees? They are yellow. Well then, put down yellow. And that shade is rather blue. So render it with pure ultramarine. Those red leaves? Use
vermillion.’ For me one of the most significant messages in art, fascinating and exciting, eye opening. You can use it in anything you create, no matter what media you are working in and you will always find new ways of interpretation for yourself.
I paint since 1988; my work has been exhibited throughout North America and Europe and is collected internationally.
My first book, ‘The Magical Horses’ is an inspiring fairy tale novel about hope and faith, helping and sharing. It’s uplifting and wonderful message connects to children and adults alike.
There are 24 art plates in this book, including my ‘Magical Horses’ series. |

Sunday Afternoon in the Pelourinho

| Paul Berenson is one of the leading colorists of the 21st Century. His Impressionistic Oil Paintings of wide ranging subjects vibrate with the light of the Southern California sun. He uses form to create an apparent reality as a bridge, from the mind of the artist to the mind of the viewer. His paintings are in collections around the world. Reproductions of his works have appeared on book covers and in numerous publications, including the New York Philharmonic Playbill. |
