Although professionally active in a very different field,
painting is - and always has been –his first love: as a variation on
“working to live
or
living to work” the story of his life is “working to live
and
living to paint”. Would love to have a duplicate life running
simultaneously to allow for all the creative activities he’s interested
in.
Most of his work is done in commission and until he became
interested in mural, faux and trompe l‘oeil painting, most of the commissions
have been for animal paintings in general and dog portraits in particular.
His art is not intended to be shocking/world-improving as he
believes that the modern media are much better suited to achieve that kind of
impact. He applies his art first of all as a trade, as evidenced in his detailed
- realistic – style, aimed at pleasing the eye and bringing some happiness to
the viewer, and more permanently to the owner of work by “JanAalt”

Mighty Messenger

|
I was born on a snowy
winter-night somewhere in 1969, Grew up in a small wild military town on the
edge of Belgium where almost everyone had something to do with the military
life and small wars and battles were lost and won in the pubs ,..usually over
a girl or two, It was inevitable as a child not to be influenced by all of
this and to draw upon these impressions, Nand Hendrix, a warrant-officer with
a big curling moustache and a great sense of humor, taught me woodsculpting
when I was eleven years old, Naturally I went to the art school after a few
bloody discussions with my parents and teachers, After my tour of duty and
several jobs later, I have created some works of art I would love the world to
see, At this moment I am painting on a gigantic size of canvas in my studio,
whenever I got the chance to do it, Will probably die ,..sooner or later
,..with something that looks like a pencil or brush in my hands, independent
of the fact if my work is payable or neglectible,
