Ann Ella Soileau Joubert's love for
color has led her down many creative paths. Her experimentation with many
different media has taught her the benefits and limitations of each. Using oil,
watercolor,
acrylic, and pastel, she often uses
mixed media to achieve her goal. Primarily an impressionist, Ann Ella also
paints abstractly. She loves to watch color transform the paper or canvas into
images and illusions. Being a diverse artist, she also writes poems and songs
about her paintings. Her greatest inspiration comes from God, "Without him I
would be nothing. With him I can be everything I want to be."
The artist has been painting seriously
for many years. She is mostly self-taught. She learns from books, videos,
workshops and life itself. She has studied with notable artist as Albert Handel,
Maxine Masterfield, Miles Bates, Judi Betts, and Douglas Walton, while the works
of Monet, Renoir, John Singer Sargent and Berta Morrisot continue to challenge
her.
AnnElla's work has been part of
exhibits and juried shows throughout the southeast, and she has received
numerous awards. She has also illustrated a book, (The Mermaid of Bayou Caillou),
written by Christy Viviano.
