2006 OUTSTANDING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IN CONTEMPORARY SCULPTURE AWARDS, 2006 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Awards. Each year the International Sculpture Center presents an award competition to its member colleges and universities as a means of supporting, encouraging, and recognizing the work of young sculptors and their supporting school’s faculty and art program. Universities must be current members. Professors are invited to nominate up to 3 of their outstanding undergraduate or graduate students to submit digital images to be juried by a panel of art professionals. The award winners participate in a 3-month exhibition at Grounds for Sculpture. Their work is included in the accompanying exhibition catalogue, and is also featured in Sculpture magazine. The winners also receive a one-year membership in ISC and are eligible to apply for a sponsored international residency. University Membership costs $170 for national universities and $190 for international universities and includes a number of benefits including the eligibility to nominate 3 students for the Outstanding Student Sculpture Award. Founded in 1981, by a group of professional photographers living in Los Angeles, Women In Photography International (WIPI) has progressed over the years to become one of the most recognized organizations for women photographers worldwide. Entries can be any type of black & white image, created in your personal darkroom, professional lab or through a digital printer that is black & white based, single weight, glossy, matte, including hand painted and toned images, Polaroid, black & white C-41, silver gelatin prints, platinum prints and alternative prints. Past topics have included women's health, body image, sexuality, spirituality, sports, and cultural diversity. National or international artists 18 years and older, working in all 2D and 3D art media, are invited to submit slides or digital entries. This exhibition is limited to original, fine arts only. Artwork should reflect the theme of "Every Picture Tells a Story" and have either a literary connection, or convey some sort of meaning to the viewer through a relationship between images and concept.
