2008 sees the 100-instrument limited edition release of the eagerly awaited
Fender Custom Shop Yngwie Malmsteen
Tribute Series Stratocaster (�Play Loud�) guitar replica. The instrument
is a meticulous recreation of the infamous and
battle-hardened 1971 Stratocaster guitar that fueled Malmsteen�s meteoric
rise to metal stardom, complete with heavily worn
Olympic white finish, scalloped fingerboard and distinctive body graphics.
Malmsteen was one of the very first Fender signature artists; a Stratocaster
bearing his name appeared in 1988, the first year that
Fender offered artist signature guitars.
Visitors to the November 2008 SEMA Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center
in Las Vegas were treated to the sight�and sounds�of an exceptional new
guitar-inspired concept car, the 2009 Toyota� Matrix 6-String. A clear show
highlight, this extraordinary compact hatchback is equipped with the Rock
Band� video
game, an earth-shaking audio/video system and even a matching Fender Custom
Shop Stratocaster� guitar.
The Fender Custom Shop
in Corona, Calif., teamed up with Toyota to create the vehicle
especially for the show. The Matrix 6-String was customized by Street
Image Inc.
of Baldwin, Calif., with a custom interior by the Austin Speed Shop of
Austin, Texas.
